John Deep v. RIAA - O Ye of Little Faith

November 12, 2003

I'm praying for my Dad, John Deep, to succeed in the Supreme Court. Keep the faith, Dadster. But some are doubting and fearful...

O Ye of Little Faith

The Importance of Being Ernest says: "I don't think the Supremes will take the case and, frankly, I hope they don't."

A Copyfighter's Musings says: "This could be extremely bad. Ernest's dead-on - if the Supreme Court takes this one, that does not bode well for the continuing vitality of Sony."

Well, I believe not only that the Supreme Court will take the case, but we'll come away with a victory that extends the teachings and protections of Sony to Internet Service in the 21st century.

I believe the result will also help all those hundreds of people being sued for contributory infringement, many of whom I have no doubt are innocent but are unable to defend themselves. When my Dad is heard in the Supreme Court, so will all of them be heard.

Do not be fearful: From The Bible, Matthew 8,25. 'And he saith unto them, why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.'

I should add that Ernest and Copyfighter do great work, which I'm grateful for. I just disagree with them this time.

CopyFighter and Ernest did not give good reasons for their lack of support of a SC hearing. The main reason people seem to be against it is that they want the Grokster V MGM case to be heard BEFORE the Aimster case. Grokster have a much better funded case and have the side of the law in their hands. It could be this time next year before the Grokster case hits the supreme court. I admire your positivity but the reality is that allmost all petitions are refused. BTW, what happens on DEC 3rd (SC website reference) in this case "the decision day". Is that the date for a decision or a RIAA submission? Posted by: Ciarán, http://www.slyck.com/ on November 12, 2003 03:49 PM
