Please, I’d rather listen to people who understand the issues on Iraq rather than musical retards like Chris Martin. Let me get this straight, we are all going to die if your President Bush gets his way and defeats ‘terrorism?’ The sheer stupidity amazes me to no end. The world would be a better place if the under-informed celebrities of the world simply shut up instead of voicing their ignorance to a believing audience. I would love to see these small minded fools get into a debate with one of the so called “hawks.” The so called hawk might give them a little reality check and maybe even some education. I have to agree with the previous comment. These comments by "celebrities" are so blind and stupid it is amazing that anyone will even listen long enough to record them. Apparently they liked 9/11 so much that they really want to let it happen again. I say God Bless and good luck to our men in the Middle East, and thank you for being brave enough to protect what we all cherish... Posted by: Nate, on March 19, 2003 09:11 PM

Apparently those who posted the two replies are very Humanitarian... Apparently, they want other 9/11 in other countries... Just because they had their 9/11... That's is sooo cruel... this war has everything except a reason! Posted by: sam, on March 20, 2003 05:25 PM

maybe its time the hollywood clebs remember that they are nothing more than entertainment. just like a video game or a dvd..and they can be put aside just like the rest Posted by: jeff, on March 21, 2003 03:02 PM

I think the grounds for distress in relation to this war in particular is that "terrorism" isn't linked to human beings. Terrorism is a practice, not a person or an object. Amongsts its practitioners are the US and the terrorists that its military has trained. Are we so naive to equate war with liberation; war with freedom? Are we so fargone as depict war as some kind of football match? I for one have a great deal of pity for those men and women sent to the middle east. Their duty is to kill human beings, maim children, dump depleted uranium onto the land mass and forsake their conscience. Their reward is some sick joke: a medal of bravery; a handshake from a Texan idiot. There are no justifiable reasons for this war. The UN is proof of that. War is predicated on the same logic as terrorism: Objectification of human beings, denial of moral considerations, and plain utter stupidity. Posted by: Micheal, on March 24, 2003 12:29 AM

Why do most of the celebrities oppose the war? Don't they know how bad the Baath Party is? How would they like to have to live there and see rich people from other countries try to pour cold water on any hope of being liberated? I think the reason why is because a lot of celebrities are cowards. War isn't the worst thing in the world, living as a slave is. Thank God for G.W. Bush and his team who do what needs to be done despite being ridiculed by the people they are acting to protect. And the same goes for John Howard, my Prime minister in Australia. I respect everyones opinions, but why does the media think that an actor or singers opinion would matter anymore than the rest of ours? Why doesn't the media go to the families of the troops and ask them their opinions-All 300,00 of the troops' families.I guess that's what I'd expect from a site that has "Brittany Spears gives nipple piercing.." on the top of the page. The biggest problem I have with these dissenting opinions on the war is that most of the objectors base their positions on the most rediculous assumtions and bad estimates for the outcome. Although I support the war, I do so acknowleging the risks. When you get past the politics, you are left with a weighing of pros and cons. Saddam is a danger to the United States. Our government has well stated the means by which Saddam might attack america. The opposition primarily stands on the fact that no matter what actions the US takes, the reaction in the middle east will initially be worse. The potential is to cause more death and violence than doing nothing. The issue is obviously more complicated and I won't take the time to cover it all, but my complaint is that none of the real issued are addressed by these clebrities. Dave Matthews(who I am a big fan of and listening to right now) dissapointed me. Claiming that regime change should be up to the people in a country that used chemical weapons to put down the last rebellion is rediculous. And then he claims that hundreds of thousands of Iraqis will be killed. When this is over, it will be shown that the number wasn't even in the same universe as that. This is a game about thousands and thousands of lives, but rediculous claims don't help your cause. Posted by: K.M., on March 30, 2003 08:59 PM

I'm getting incredibly sick of the anti-war (anti-bush) movement going around for the past few months. I'm tired of delusional celebrities and the rest of the media trying shove their anti-war crap in everyone's faces. After months of being bombarded by the liberal media, I still have not heard any REAL facts, just opinions and theories.  I have even been to out-spoken celebs like Michael Moore's website and still I cant find any legitimate reason not to be at war. As far as protesting the war on Saddam (not Iraq or the Iraqi people) these un-informed geeks don’t have a leg to stand on.  The only consistent idea spewing from their mouths is anti-bush sentiment.  Hmmm, I don’t know about anyone else, but I smell liberal agenda, and it stinks.  "Lets see, lets make Bush out to be another Nixon, relate the war on Saddam to Vietnam (Hitler, who?), protest the war like crazy, get exaggerated amounts of coverage, let's even go as far as pump our propaganda at the end of every hour on MTV2 and have 15 minutes dedicated to showing the same two antiwar videos and showing young protesters rallying for a phantom cause!  Then that will turn all the brain washed public against Bush, making his approval ratings go down, by 2004 us liberals will have it made in the shade!" Its plain to see what's going on.  America needs to wake up and smell Sept. 11.  GET INFORMED!!!  Let this be a virtual bitch slap to any delusional celeb or liberal jackass too busy to know what's really going on because they have their head up their own ass. ps i still love shakira though. i will marry her and she will change her ways. Shakira is in the Peace Corps. so of course she is anti-war. She has much knowledge about war because she is from Colombia, so she knows what she is talking about. She disagrees with the war but in a respectful manner. Posted by: Tracy, on April 6, 2003 05:21 PM

So let ME get this straight... We're fighting a "War on Terrorism"? Seems to me that Hamas, Hizbollah, and Islamic Jihad have had free run of the world since the war started. They (the Bushies)totally ignore real terrorist-run states like the Sudan and claim Hussein has links with Osama bin Laden, who thinks he's a traitor to Islam for being secular. I applaud the action in the Phillipines, as Mindanao is a relatively deserted island and Abu Sayyaf is secluded, but otherwise this so-called "War on Terror" is just becoming a buffer for more terrorist activity, and is completely ignoring terrorism. I wished everyone who opposes the war in Iraq such as these overpaid hollywood idiots would shut the heck up.They live in their million dollar mansions with their state of the art secrity systems living in a fantasy world, while in Iraq thousands of men, women, children, and babies are being raped, tortured, murdered, and who knows what else at the hands of Saddam and his sons. But the hollywood idiots wants the U.S.A. to turn their backs and look the other way.Did they see the pictures of Iraqi people hugging and kissing the soldiers Posted by: Roy Torgerson Jr., on April 11, 2003 09:52 PM

Okay, Well, I'm not fond of the idea of war, I don't like war. And personally, I think there might be a better way, but since I'm not running this country then I can't say I know whats best. People really shouldn't be protesting this war. I mean, it's not like Vietnam, and it really hurts the solidiers morals'. Anyways, the world is a beatiful place, sure there are a few crazed lunatics out there, but if everyone just pulls together then I'm sure that a bright future lies in store. There will always be evil in the world, but there will also always be a force of good out there, and our job, is to make sure the the good will always win out. This is our life, our future, and our planet, now lets change it from just being a place you stay, to a place you are happy to call, home. Posted by: Margaret, on April 13, 2003 05:12 PM

I agree with Tracy. Shakira comes from Colombia, a country that has been at war for over 40 years, so of course she is going to be against this war. But she doesn't say terrible things about Bush like Chris Martin did. I'm for the war and celebrities can oppose the war if they want but I think they should do it in a manner like Shakira's. It is unecessary to say mean things about Bush in public. Posted by: Gaby, on April 22, 2003 12:54 AM
