Russell Simmons And Music Celebrities Against the War

March 01, 2003

Music Celebrities Against The War. Hip-Hop mogul Russell Simmons and "Lou Reed and David Byrne were among the artists on hand in New York yesterday to announce the formation of Musicians United to Win Without War, an industry-wide peace alliance..."

"Jay-Z, Missy Elliott, Sheryl Crow, Dave Matthews, Outkast, Busta Rhymes, Roseanne Cash and Tweet are among the other members of the group, which will use its public platform to support weapons inspections, as opposed to invasion and occupation, as a means to resolve the conflict with Iraq."

Free music has always been an important symbol of expression in times of war, from Beethoven's 5th in World War II, to Rock and Roll and in Vietnam -- and now Hip-Hop in Iraq.

Is the playing of free music as a symbol of expression an infringement of copyright?

Celeberties who think Bush is ignorant NEED to read this Who's Smarter? by Cindy Osborne The Hollywood group is at it again. Holding anti-war rallies, screaming about the Bush Administration, running ads in major newspapers, defaming the President and his Cabinet every chance they get, to anyone and everyone who will listen. They publicly defile them and call them names like "stupid" , "morons", and "idiots". Jessica Lange went so far as to tell a crowd in Spain that she hates President Bush and is embarrassed to be an American. So, just how ignorant are these people who are running the country? Let's look at the biographies of these "stupid", "ignorant" , "moronic" leaders, and then at the celebrities who are castigating them: President George W. Bush: Received a Bachelors Degree from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He served as an F-102 pilot for the Texas Air National Guard. He began his career in the oil and gas business in Midland in 1975 and worked in the energy industry until 1986. He was elected Governor on November 8, 1994, with 53.5 percent of the vote. In a historic re-election victory, he became the first Texas Governor to be elected to consecutive four-year terms on November 3, 1998 winning 68.6 percent of the vote. In 1998 Governor Bush won 49 percent of the Hispanic vote, 27 percent of the African-American vote, 27 percent of Democrats and 65 percent of women. He won more Texas counties, 240 of 254, than any modern Republican other than Richard Nixon in 1972 and is the first Republican gubernatorial candidate to win the heavily Hispanic and Democratic border counties of El Paso, Cameron and Hidalgo. (Someone began circulating a false story about his I.Q. being lower than any other President. If you believed it, you might want to go to URBANLEGENDS.COM and see the truth.) Vice President Dick Cheney: Earned a B.A. in 1965 and a M.A. in 1966, both in politic al science. Two years later, he won an American Political Science Association congressional fellowship. One of Vice President Cheney's primary duties is to share with individuals, members of Congress and foreign leaders, President Bush's vision to strengthen our economy, secure our homeland and win the War on Terrorism. In his official role as President of the Senate, Vice President Cheney regularly goes to Capital Hill to meet with Senators and members of the House of Representatives to work on the Administration's legislative goals. In his travels as Vice President, he has seen first hand the great demands the war on terrorism is placing on the men and women of our military, and he is proud of the tremendous job they are doing for the United States of America. Secretary of State Colin Powell: Educated in the New York City public schools, graduating from the City College of New York (CCNY), where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in geology. He also participated in ROTC at CCNY and received a commission as an Army second lieutenant upon graduation in June 1958. His further academic achievements include a Master of Business Administration Degree from George Washington University. Secretary Powell is the recipient of numerous U.S. and foreign military awards and decorations. Secretary Powell's civilian awards include two Presidential Medals of Freedom, the President's Citizens Medal, the Congressional Gold Medal, the Secretary of State Distinguished Service Medal, and the Secretary of Energy Distinguished Service Medal. Several schools and other institutions have been named in his honor and he holds honorary degrees from universities and colleges across the country. (Note: He retired as Four Star General in the United States Army) Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfield: Attended Princeton University on Scholarship (AB, 1954) and served in the U.S. Navy (1954-57) as a Naval aviator; Congressional Assistant to Rep. Robert Griffin (R-MI), 1957-59; U.S. Representative, Illinois, 1962-69; Assistant to the President, Director of the Office of Economic Opportunity, Director of the Cost of Living Council, 1969-74; U.S. Ambassador to NATO, 1973-74; head of Presidential Transition Team, 1974; Assistant to the President, Director of White House Office of Operations, White House Chief of Staff, 1974-77; Secretary of Defense, 1975-77. Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge: Raised in a working class family in veterans' public housing in Erie. He earned a scholarship to Harvard, graduating with honors in 1967. After his first year at The Dickinson School of Law, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served as an infantry staff sergeant in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star for Valor. After returning to Pennsylvania, he earned his Law Degree and was in private practice before becoming Assistant District Attorney in Erie County. He was elected to Congress in 1982. He was the first enlisted Vietnam combat veteran elected to the U.S. House, and was overwhelmingly re-elected six times. National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice: Earned her Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Denver in 1974; her Master's from the University of Notre Dame in 1975; and her Ph.D. from the Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Denver in 1981. (Note: Rice enrolled at the University of Denver at the age of 15, graduating at 19 with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science (Cum Laude). She earned a Master's Degree at the University of Notre Dame and a Doctorate from the University of Denver's Graduate School of International Studies. Both of her advanced degrees are also in Political Science.) She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and has been awarded Honorary Doctorates from Morehouse College in 1991, the University of Alabama in 1994, and the University of Notre Dame in 1995. At Stanford, she has been a member of the Center for International Security and Arms Control, a Senior Fellow of the Institute for International Studies, and a Fellow (by courtesy) of the Hoover Institution. Her books include Germany Unified and Europe Transformed (1995) with Philip Zelikow, The Gorbachev Era (1986) with Alexander Dallin, and Uncertain Allegiance: The Soviet Union and the Czechoslovak Army (1984). She also has written numerous articles on Soviet and East European foreign and defense policy, and has addressed audiences in settings ranging from the U.S. Ambassador's Residence in Moscow to the Commonwealth Club to the 1992 and 2000 Republican National Conventions. From 1989 through March 1991, the period of German reunification and the final days of the Soviet Union, she served in the Bush Administration as Director, and then Senior Director, of Soviet and East European Affairs in the National Security Council, and a Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs. In 1986, while an international affairs fellow of the Council on Foreign Relations, she served as Special Assistant to the Director of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In 1997, she served on the Federal Advisory Committee on Gender -- Integrated Training in the Military. She was a member of the boards of directors for the Chevron Corporation, the Charles Schwab Corporation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the University of Notre Dame, the International Advisory Council of J.P. Morgan and the San Francisco Symphony Board of Governors. She was a Founding Board member of the Center for a New Generation, an educational support fund for schools in East Palo Alto and East Menlo Park, California and was Vice President of the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula. In addition, her past board service has encompassed such organizations as Transamerica Corporation, Hewlett Packard, the Carnegie Corporation, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, The Rand Corporation, the National Council for Soviet and East European Studies, the Mid-Peninsula Urban Coalition and KQED, public broadcasting for San Francisco. Born Nov ember 14, 1954 in Birmingham, Alabama, she resides in Washington, D.C. So who are these celebrities? What is their education? What is their experience in affairs of State or in National Security? While I will defend to the death their right to express their opinions, I think that if they are going to call into question the intelligence of our leaders, we should also have all the facts on their educations and background: Barbra Streisand : Completed high school Career: Singing and acting Cher: Dropped out of school in 9th grade. Career: Singing and acting Martin Sheen: Flunked exam to enter University of Dayton. Career: Acting Jessica Lange: Dropped out college mid-freshman year. Career: Acting Alec Baldwin: Dropped out of George Washington U. after scandal. Career: Acting Julia Roberts: Completed high school. Career: Acting Sean Penn: Completed High school. Career: Acting Susan Sarandon: Degree in Drama from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Career: Acting Ed Asner; Completed High school. Career: Acting George Clooney: Dropped out of University of Kentucky. Career: Acting Michael Moore: Dropped out first year University of Michigan. Career: Movie Director Sarah Jessica Parker: Completed High School. Career: Acting Jennifer Anniston: Completed High School. Career: Acting Mike Farrell: Completed High school. Career: Acting Janeane Garofelo: Dropped out of College. Career: Stand up comedienne Larry Hagman: Attended Bard College for one year. Career: Acting While comparing the education and experience of these two groups, we should also remember that President Bush and his cabinet are briefed daily, even hourly, on the War on Terror and threats to our security. They are privy to information gathered around the world concerning the Middle East, the threats to America, the intentions of terrorists and terrorist-supporting governments. They are in constant communication with the CIA, the FBI, Interpol, NATO, The United Nations, our own military, and that of our allies around the world. We cannot simply believe that we have full knowledge of the threats because we watch CNN!! We cannot believe that we are in any way as informed as our leaders. These celebrities have no intelligence-gathering agents, no fact-finding groups, no insight into the minds of those who would destroy our country. They only have a deep seated hatred for all things Republican. By nature, and no one knows quite why, the Hollywood elitists detest Conservative views and anything that supports or uplifts the United States of America. The silence was deafening from the Left when Bill Clinton bombed a pharmaceutical factory outside of Khartoum, or when he attacked the Bosnian Serbs in 1995 and 1999. He bombed Serbia itself to get Slobodan Milosevic out of Kosovo, and not a single peace rally was held. When our Rangers were ambushed in Somalia and 18 young American lives were lost, not a peep was heard from Hollywood. Yet now, after our nation has been attacked on its own soil, after 3,000 Americans were killed, by freedom-hating terrorists, while going about their routine lives, they want to hold rallies against the war. Why the change? Because an honest, God-fearing Republican sits in the White House. Another irony is that in 1987, when Ronald Reagan was in office, the Hollywood group aligned themselves with disarmament groups like SANE, FREEZE and PEACE ACTION, urging our own government to disarm and freeze the manufacturing of any further nuclear weapons, in order to promote world peace. It is curious that now, even after we have heard all the evidence that Saddam Hussein has chemical, biological and is very close to obtaining nuclear weapons, their is no cry from this group for HIM to disarm. They believe we should leave him alone in his quest for these weapons of mass destruction, even though it is certain that these deadly weapons will eventually be used against us in our own cities. So why the hype out of H ollywood? Could these celebrities believe that since they draw such astronomical salaries, they are entitled to also determine the course of our Nation? That they can make viable decisions concerning war and peace? Did Michael Moore have the backing of the Nation when he recently thanked France, on our behalf, for being a "good enough friend to tell us we were wrong"? I know for certain he was not speaking for me. Does Sean Penn fancy himself a Diplomat, in going to Iraq when we are just weeks away from war? Does he believe that his High School Diploma gives him the knowledge (and the right) to go to a country that is controlled by a maniacal dictator, and speak on behalf of the American people? Or is it the fact that he pulls in more money per year than the average American worker will see in a lifetime? Does his bank account give him clout? The ultimate irony is that many of these celebrities have made a shambles of their own lives, with drug abuse, alcoholism, numerous marriages and divorces, scrapes with the law, publicized temper tantrums, etc. How dare they pretend to know what is best for an entire nation! What is even more bizarre is how many people in this country will listen and accept their views, simply because they liked them in a certain movie, or have fond memories of an old television sitcom! It is time for us, as citizens of the United States, to educate ourselves about the world around us. If future generations are going to enjoy the freedoms that our forefathers bequeathed us, if they are ever to know peace in their own country and their world, to live without fear of terrorism striking in their own cities, we must assure that this nation remains strong. We must make certain that those who would destroy us are made aware of the severe consequences that will befall them. Yes, it is a wonderful dream to sit down with dictators a nd terrorists and join hands, singing Cumbaya and talking of world peace. But it is not real. We did not stop Adolf Hitler from taking over the entire continent of Europe by simply talking to him. We sent our best and brightest, with the strength and determination that this Country is known for, and defeated the Nazi regime. President John F. Kennedy did not stop the Soviet ships from unloading their nuclear missiles in Cuba in 1962 with mere words. He stopped them with action, and threat of immediate war if the ships did not turn around. We did not end the Cold War with conferences. It ended with the strong belief of President Ronald Reagan... PEACE through STRENGTH. Posted by: Flyer, on March 26, 2003 02:57 PM

This is directed to Cindy Osbourne.... Look "stupid", our president being a stupid guy has nothing to do with how many degree's he received in a college. Hollywood stars and anybody else against the war are smart enough to know what is really going on. What the hell is this war based on Cindy? Since you know so much. Oil? Or is it baby Bush's revenge? Oh or is it that our Republican president actually wants to help the Iraqi people get THEIR land back from a tyrant? Hmmm. Tell me something what business is it of ours? What right do we have to go over there and kill innocent people! Some people in Iraq may not like Saddam Hussein yeah sure, but not every one likes Bush either (Obvious Fact). But do you see Spain and Germany over here telling Bush that he has 3 hours to vacate the country. No. So what right do we have to do it. See we have a Public Relations President, he has his hand all over there and wont even take notice to the wars going on in his own country, IN THE STREETS. Bet you don't know anything about that huh Cindy? Educate yourself, it is more likely that I get shot walking down the streets of WATTS than my ass getting blown up in a plane or building, why? Because a terrorist is attacking mostly only areas that is...what do you call it... heavily populated with... umm money. Wait but hold on you say that, terrorist has attacked us on our soil, shyt from where I stand terrorist within or own country have been attacking innocent people on our own soil for years and years. When the hell did that give us the right to go and kill more innocent people. I can't see how some one so intelligent as our Bush can go and try to stabalize another country, when shyt isn't stable in his own. Hell yeah the president is stupid. He's spending 200 billion dollars on this war, he's taking from hospitals and schools, shyt my school! He has taken 2 billion dollars alone from the California schools. And whose fighting his wars, huh, kids from over here because it'll pay for their college tution or they see it as the only way out. Educate yourself Cindy, because these kids from urban areas that are my friends and family don't even make it to college because they're out there dying. Educate yourself, I saw on the news that a military troop tore down and ripped up a picture of Saddam and the crowd of Iraqi people cheered. If someone came over here and did the same to Bush's picture I'd cheer and clap and roar with glee and have 200 people by my side doing the same. That don't mean we want anybody over here bombing us and killing us. The US sold them the weapons that they have it's all scandal. If Bush wants a war on terrorism he needs to aim missells this way. But since that isn't an option let us have a little PEACE, or at least get some PEACE within ourselves before we unleash war on others. Cindy, do you even think about the little kids that are getting killed over there? I bet you don't huh because they are beneath you and your level of intelligence. There is such an insignificance of human life that people don't even realize, and wont realize until we have some PEACE between our countries and in the streets. Damn girl I'm 14 years old at Jordan High School in Watts and I'm aware of all this shyt, you need to educate yourself, and then you telk about whose smarter. I'm not normally one to pos this type of message but being an ex-service member, with-out the burden of having gone to war, feel that now is the time we need to put aside our own beliefs and rely on our elected officials to make the decisions they were hired by the USA to do. If you read below and still feel its better to follow those who are obviously making there view know out of pure need for attention, by all means, you may do so. That is your American right. That is what my Great Grandfather, my Grandfather, My father, and last myself put our fate in the hands of our hired officials to make sure YOU have that right. The only thing I ask, as the fourth generation to serve for your rights, is understand the facts. Before you decided to take a stand and voice your opinion, look at what our hired officials are trying to protect, YOU. No one is asking you to agree with the war but remember how all of our ancestors created the United States, by understanding one small but powerfull statement, United We Stand, Divided We Fall. Will you divide us, or put your feelings behind you and help keep us United? Posted by: J.D. Statz, on March 28, 2003 02:21 PM

Chrysteena, Please remember that a sure sign of an uneducated individual comes when they must use profanity to get their point across. At fourteen, I credit you for having an opinion, but please work on expressing it without, how did you put it..."damn, shyt, & hell". Bush is our leader, and he is not perfect, but he is who God has allowed to lead us, therefore I stand behind him and pray God will guide him, instead of criticizing him. There will be no peace until the youth of our generation understand that demanding PEACE doesn't make it HAPPEN. The whole reason those innocent people are suffering is because of Hussein's regime. You ask what business is it our ours? If you knew the things we are in danger of, you would not think it's none of our business, but we are not all privy to that information. That's our leaders job. They carry that burden. Until you've sat down with our leaders, please don't just assume they are wrong. Posted by: Diznee, on April 3, 2003 02:08 PM

I hope you aren't currently attending a college in the US. You would do anything one of your favorite CELEBRITIES did, just because of the power that fame bestows upon them. I hope you respect yourself enough to follow your own beliefs and not those of some movie star or musician. By the way, I'm a musician, and I don't tell other people what to think. "Nothing good comes out of war?" So you didn't see the Marines save a family of Iraqis being shot at by their own republican guard today, it's a good thing those Marines where there to prove absolutely nothing good comes from war. Nuclear bombs? Do you have Nuclear Bombs in New York City? The bombs and weapons don't hurt anyone unless a few madmen decide to unleash them against law abiding citizens throughout the world. And that's the point, to protect the world against people without a moral compass, who have absolutely no respect for human life. The type of dictators and tyrants who gas and murder their own peaceful people, the same people our troops are presently trying to free. And by the way, the same troops who are keeping you free to voice your opinions, no matter how misguided and naive. Maybe you should concentrate more on spelling and grammar, than geopolitcal observations. I applaud you for taking a stand and speaking your mind, please open it a little wider so you can hear the other side of the argument. Sweet dreams sleeping under the blanket the armed forces and law enforcement officials have provided for you this evening, they won't sleep tonight because their job is to keep you safe. signed: A Musician, a Veteran, and an American. To everyone: I am related to several soldiers involved in the war in Iraq. I had the pleasure of speaking with all of them just before the war started and some of them since. I know they are scared but are proud to serve their country. They are proud to defend everyone, even the people who speak out against them. In the beginning I didn't know what to think about this war or even how to feel about it. I have received some mail from "my" soldiers in Iraq. They, all of them, say it is worth it. One soldier told me of a situation where he, and other troops, landed in a hot zone. He told me all they could see were the bursts from the shots being fired, this was at night, so they put on their nv goggles to determine where the man was shooting from. He said what they saw shocked them. Standing not five or ten feet behind the shooter was an innocent man waving at them, as in appreciation or kindness. They of course did not return fire. He is apalled at the Iraqi troops behavior, using human shields, including women and children. To the person who stated we are killing the innocent, Sadaam, who you are trying to show as innocent and righteous, is ordering the placement of those women and children before his troops, he in effect is killing his own people once again. To other anti-war people: If you think our country is so bad, if you think our president and government is so bad, then leave, go to Iraq, live as those people do, in constant fear. If the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is so terrible that you are ashamed about any part, any aspect of your life here, then you do NOT belong here. America is a fairytale compared to many other parts of the world, that is why you live here and call the US your home. Move, go somewhere else. True Americans support America. Whether you support the war or not you should always support our troops. They provide you with freedom and safety, why shouldn't they provide others with the same? If you think the Iraqi peoples lives are fine and should be left alone, go and live there, experience their lives, trade places, I'm sure they would in a heartbeat. Oh, one final thought, Do Anti-war protestors have a job? I see these people protesting day in and day out. Is it that they dont have anything better to do and are bored? If you have an answer let me know Posted by: Michelle, on April 6, 2003 05:44 AM

Shame on these Musicians for being AGAINST THE FREEDOM OF IRAQ PEOPLE. Obviously these are people that are unaware of what life is like in a country without freedom. I will be sure to Boycott these people. Posted by: Achlem Ohime, on April 9, 2003 05:05 PM

All you celebs against the war and freeing the world of dictatorships and WMD's puff away with ya. You have no back bone and thats why your all pissing in the wind. Go back to your pansey ass life style and let real americans run the real world and not your pretend one. Marc Posted by: Marc, on April 10, 2003 10:28 AM

So many people are out protesting war...... just think if all these people gave this much time to helping people in need ..... meals on wheels, helping the homeless, volunteering at their schools so their children will receive a better education because they support their children!!!!! Somewhere some people got off track. Why waste money on the signs when you know over 60% Americans know this war is warrented. Come on people, get an education. If you're protesting the war just because you have nothing better to do then get a life. It upsets me when I see protesters out wasting their time when people HERE need to be helped. Instead they just look the other way and expect the Government to do it. How lazy (communistic) is that?! And these so called peace protesters..... breaking laws and getting arrested.... laying down in front of the doors to businesses so others who are exercising their free will to go into that store to do some shopping can't do so. Yeah that's intelligent... NOT! If you're going to talk the talk then walk the walk. It's funny how so many people have all the answers but never run for office. If you don't like what America does..... you can exercise your free will.... like leaving to go to another country such as France. Posted by: Jason, on April 12, 2003 07:43 PM

I would just like to say that the people that are boycotting the actors and musicians that are against president bush are some of the smartest people out there. celebrities that speak out run the risk of ruining their career. think about it- the US elected bush. the people that made them famous. speaking out is pretty much the dumbest thing that they can do. I myself am boycotting many people. if i hear a dixie chicks song, ill turn it. i think that what they did was totally inappropriate and immature. it doesn't take much to say "oh yeah. war is bad all right." but what do they have to back it up? people die. yeah? i know this....everyone does. people don't sign up for the army if they aren't willing to fight for what our soldiers have been fighting to protect for hundreds of years. the freedoms that we take for granted the people in Iraq don't have. how would u like to walk up to president bush, tell him hes losing the election, and be shot in the head? thats what people in iraq have to live with- constant fear. if someone gives saddam bad news, news that he doesn't like, there is always that chance that you would get killed. and i am appalled to see that a female wrote that comment slamming cindy osborne for her article. do you know what a male iraqi soldier gets if he goes on a suicide mission and blows up american soldiers? he is greeted in heaven by 74 virgins! this is ridiculous. do you know what the women get? nothing- they don't have a heaven. they are not citizens. they mean nothing. they are treated like slaves, and sex toys. the freedoms that we take for granted, like for instance, so many people are enjoying the liberty of slamming bush. sharing their opinion. freedom of speech. THERE IS NO FREEDOM OF SPEECH IN IRAQ!!!! if you say something they don't like, u are killed. but its not even that easy. you are tortured, then you are killed. personally, i think that the people that are so openly against the war, and against bush, should go to somewhere were there is a dictatorship, a cruel one, like the control of saddam hussein's regime. that will most definately change their tune. if it were up to me, you would be the first ones drafted....AND SENT TO THE FRONT LINES!!!!! Posted by: Catherine, on April 13, 2003 05:22 AM

and one more thing.... Crysteena....u dont know what ur talking about...200 BILLION???what crack are u smokin? try not even 80 billion. thats a small price to pay when u think about how many lives u are making better in the long run. and ripping up a picture of bush? sure...thats a good way to get attention....BECAUSE THATS ALL PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE OUT TO GET!!!!! Posted by: Catherine, on April 13, 2003 05:26 AM

I don't know about anyone else but I hope that those who have spoken out against our President are now eating crow. As for the Celebrities, well they made their own bed and now they'll have to sleep in it. Posted by: Nicole, on April 13, 2003 11:28 PM

For all of those against war ... it is your right to protest but let me remind you who gave you that right. It was the soldiers that have died for our wonderful country and also those soldiers that are still out there protecting the rights and freedoms of this country. Do you think that any of them are really interested in WAR, no not really but they believe in their rights and their freedoms and feel that others around the world should be able to experience those same rights. As far as who is smarter ... whether it is the people in public office or Hollywood? Well let me just say this, the people in Hollywood are good at what they do and they do it well with their prewritten scripts and a director telling them where to stand and how to act BUT they do not have to make real life decisions based on that information. The President and his team have more information than WE the civilians have to help them to make the decisions that they make, they also have several people that advise them on different results that can be obtained with different tactics used. The decisions that they come to are not just the choice of one person it is the analysis and informed decisions of many. I have to commend any of our leaders that have had to take upon the responsibility of keeping our great nation safe and to make it a nation that my children can grow up in and make their own decisions and choices. It's definitely not one that I would like to take on. Remember to look at the Iraqi children and see the joy on their faces to just be able to be outside and say hello to someone without the fear of death. That's what our leaders have done for them and are continuing to do for us. I for one would hate to see another attack like 9/11 happen and that's what our leaders are protecting us from. Hello all , I would just like to say that I enjoyed all the comments of all sides on this website and now I am going to voice mine. Put it this way should America come to rescue of people in a dictorship like Hitler? I would say of course to that question, is Saddam connected to making donations to those jerk offs who killed thousands on 9/11 i think most of us can connect the dots on that as well. I am in full support of our President on this, and I am Hollywood California Native who would for the most part be a Democrat on most views in politcs .BUT I AM SO PISSED AT THESE UNEDUCATED STARS BABBLING AWAY, THAT i WANT TO START OR HELP IN ANY BOYCOTT i CAN OF ANY OF THERE MOVES , TV SHOWS, ETC. Young kids 19,20, etc .. gave there life so thousands maybe almost millions of iraqi women, childeren , etc. can live without being in fear of being raped and killed! i am full support of boycotting these stupid stars and putting pressure on any network to avoid them! cancel them make them shut up and smell there stupid latte's. Please email me if you are starting a boycott or can give me info of studio's etc to contact. thanks, email: Dnny748@yahoo.com p.s i wonder how many of these stars would be againist the war if they had there mothers rapped, hands cut off for no reason etc...... Yes we are all againist war even people in the miltary but sometimes a bully like Saddam who strikes fear in his own people needs to be put down think about it. Do you want the next 9/11 in your city!!!!!! President sent a message to the rest of world! Step the heck back if you plan on messing with America! Posted by: danny, on April 16, 2003 11:41 PM

So basically what Danny is trying to say is that it's O'K. to go bomb a country killing innocent civilians and planting mines (and I'm including unexploded cluster bombs here) which almost every country except the good old US of A has banned for being inhumane before pulling your troops out but still bombing the country from the safety of your surrounding Midldle East allies, most notably Saudi Arabia (coincidentally the country where the majority of the 9/11 terrorists came from and were trained) which is ruled under a similar dictatorial regime that Iraq is, whilst also imposing economic sanctions that have killed 1.5 million Iraqi children under the age of 5 in the last 12 years, then returning 12 years later to start a preemptive war of aggression against a regime that has no proven links with Al Qauida despite what Colin Powell says (his reports were actually thrown out the window by the UN and Hans Blix the chief weapons inspector in Iraq before the illegal war on Iraq started) and the fact that Bin Laden denounced Saddam Hussein as an infidel. It is also interesting to note that now the regime has 'fallen' in Iraq the Americans are imposing an imperialistig governor whilst consulting the local "tribal" leaders. Hmm, remind anyone of somewhere else that is now in a fantastic state of affairs. Oh yeah Afghanistan. Oh and by the way has anyone seen Osama bin Laden recently!!! And before you dispute the facts I think if you read the World Health Organisation Reports regarding the state of Iraq, or the International Red Cross or Oxfam whom I actually work for you'll find the figures are correct. As for you're comment regarding not messing with America it didn't stop the American government messing with Cuba which still has trade embargoes on it from 40 years ago. I mean talk about holding a grudge, or Colombia where the drugs trade is rife thanks to American sponsored terrorism against the democratically elected government their, or support the state sponsored terrorism of the Palestineans by the Isreali's. That is to name but a few examples. Thanks for listening Danny and maybe the next time you vote in your "democratic" elections you can hope that some nice country comes and bombs you in your home because they've realisde that George W. Bush has rigged the elections again... Oh to have friends in high places... Posted by: Ben, on April 21, 2003 03:47 PM

i support the war and our country at this time. we are and have been under attack. that we all agree on. regardless of whether you like Bush or not...look at the democrats/liberals: they want to get rid of God and the flag; they want to allow homosexuals to get married; they believe in abortion. the liberal agenda is a big lie and they are lying to us...the minority vote, yet we are the majority vote. open your eyes...the liberals/dems are a bunch of rich elitists with a socialist agenda. they want themselves to be untouched, while the rest of us are at the bottom, looking to them for everything we need. i am an american-mexican, 35 year old female. my husband joined the army post 9/11. we know what is going on . we are not blind. we follow everything. back up your country, back up your president. don't be blindsided by those who only want power for themselves. if the liberal democrats were in charge....we'd be sitting ducks. don't be fooled...think for yourselves. let's protect our country regardless of party. I am an Australian and In case you didnt know the Australian government sent troops to Iraq because they follow the American government in everything they do. To all those people who say being against the war means being against the freedom of Iraqi people, you're wrong. We are against the real reasons behind the war. Since when has George Bush cared about the Iraqi people? As soon as there's something in it for him, thats when. We all feel for the people who died on September 11, but I wish that you could see how you're government takes advantage of you and these tragedies. There is no evidence that Iraq was involved WHATSOEVER in the terrorist attack, but this is what you're government subtly suggests. Money, greed and power are the reasons behind the war. Why do you think the UN and all those other countries were against the war against Iraq? Surely all these countries care nothing for the Iraqi people? George Bush goes on about freedom for the iraqis and the danger of weapons of mass destruction, well may I remind you which country dropped to atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Negasaki, Japan? America. One rule for America another for everyone else. If only you could for one minute see your country from the rest of the worlds point of view! The hypocrisy, lies and exploitation of your government is disgusting! Dont get me wrong I have nothing against Americans but against the government, yes i do. And on the subject of the intelligence of you're president, let me remind me of the marks he was getting in High school...low c's. And how did he get passed A students in to University? His family. I dont know If youve noticed but his father was president and his family is very powerful. George Bush barely passed University and the election, well dont get me started about that. The one thing I dont understand is how did american oil get under Iraqi sand? The Bush family have various connections with oil companies, and what a coincidence, Iraq has huge oil supplies! I am open to other people's opinions and I hope you are open to mine. This is all I have time to say today. Posted by: amber, on November 22, 2003 12:55 AM
