European Commission allows music downloading in antipiracy proposal. Music Industry infuriated
SOURCE: Europe Frees the music! This could be a big deal, because Congress often passes US Copyright law saying it wants to conform with the copyright policies of the Europe. This was the reason Congress gave for passing the silly Copyright Extension Act.
Well, it looks like it's time to conform again - this time Congress should make free music available for downloading for personal use, just like Europe is.
Piracy is selling phony CDs and that's illegal! We always want to prevent stealing music for burning and selling phony CDs.
But that's not at all the issue here - we're only talking about personal use on your own computer and media players.
