Proposed Injunction Against Me

Proposed Injunction Against Me

September 13, 2002

Well, here it is for all legal experts and concerned citizens. Here's what Big Media wants everyone to do. Or at least, here's what they want me to do. And I think I'm pretty typical of everyone.

Memorandum for the Proposed Injunction

Proposed Injunction Order

How does this look to you. Would you be able to do this if it was you? How can I do it? Any ideas? Thanks to Eric for suggesting legal experts who might take an interest in helping. If anyone else has suggestions, please let me know.

As a ex-librarian I am appalled at how the true intent of copyright has been twisted and turned so that it only benefits a very few. Art should benefit both the artist and the public, and thenit should be returned to the public domain in a reasonable amount of time,,not over a hundred years later! I'm a musician, and the RIAA isn't helping us at all. Musicians will sell (or not) based on whether your stuff is good, and if people who like it can find it. These guys want to hold us hostage to buying an entire cd, even if we only want one track. That genie is out of the bottle now, gang. We can get just what we want, but only if we don't pay. If they'd let us pay a little, for each track we want, preview them, and replace them if our hard drives crashed, I'd pay gladly! Unfortunately, they won't allow us to exercise that freedom of choice LEGALLY, so they can keep their monopoly. Sigh. Posted by: Tex, on September 14, 2002 07:21 PM

Copyright was intended to help the author benifit from his/her work. The new law, which is retroactive, seems counterintuitive. How can a DEAD author benifit from life plus 70 years. For a look at copyright law and how INSANE it has become go to http://www.tomwbell.com/writings/(C)_Term.html Posted by: Public Domain, on November 10, 2002 06:52 PM
